WESII Creative is the public workshop of William E. Schmidt II — published author, naturalist, photographer, retired U.S. Coast Guard navigator, home inspector, concerned sports fan and lifelong observer of how people, systems, tools, and the natural world actually work.

The work collected here comes from field experience, practical problem-solving, writing, photography, invention concepts, sports-access proposals, environmental observation, and the habit of noticing what others walk past.

Schmidty is the author of Hooks for the Fly: The Fly Tier’s Complete, Illustrated Guide, originally published by Stackpole Books in 2000. WESII Creative now serves as the home base for new written work, visual studies, practical concepts, and developing projects.

The goal is simple: turn lived experience into useful, honest, and original work.
